I totally fell in love with Kundalini Yoga and chanting when I was pregnant and in particular I loved the "Sa Ta Na Ma" Kriya, which I want to share with you in this blog.
The mantra "Sa Ta Na Ma" is a powerful and ancient Sanskrit mantra and here’s what it means:-
Meaning: "Infinity" or the infinite cosmic energy. It represents the beginning, the totality of everything that ever was, is, or will be. It signifies the essence of creation and the eternal nature of the universe.
Meaning: "Life" or manifestation. It signifies life and the individual journey of existence. It represents growth and transformation.
Meaning: "Death" or transformation. It represents the transformative aspect of existence. It symbolises death, change, and the dissolution of the ego. Na signifies the process of letting go and embracing change as a natural part of life's journey.
Meaning: "Rebirth" or regeneration. This signifies rebirth, regeneration, and the cyclical nature of existence. It represents the potential for renewal, growth, and spiritual evolution. Ma symbolizes the eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth.
The mantra "Sa Ta Na Ma" encapsulates the entire cycle of existence—from the infinite cosmic energy (Sa), through the journey of life (Ta), transformation and change (Na), to rebirth and regeneration (Ma).
Chanting or meditating on this mantra is believed to align you with the universal flow of energy, which is great to do if you are trying to conceive to harness that creative energy to make a baby and if you are pregnant, as you are creating new life. There is also transformation of maiden to mother happening also, and a new version of you is being born.
In essence, "Sa Ta Na Ma" represents the timeless wisdom of the universe and serves as a reminder of the interconnectedness of all aspects of existence, which is what Yoga is really all about!
Here are some of the benefits of doing this Kriya:
So, with all that being said, let’s practice it! You will of course need to practice it regularly to get the most benefit and practicing it for 40 days straight is said to be best. If you miss a day, you go back to the beginning again and start another 40 days.
In the video below I show you how to practice it for 11 minutes but you can of course practice it for as short or as long as you have time.
So at the next new Moon on Friday, which also happens to be the Lunar New Year, why don’t you commit to a 40 day Kriya with the "Sa Ta Na Ma" mantra and see how you feel after the 40 days?
